Chapter 13

About thirty minutes later, Clayton, who had filled his inventory with his building supplies, Emma, and I along with five of Clayton’s employees were on the docks of Skeleton Cove talking with Makai. “So, can you do it? Can you get Clayton to that island as soon as possible?” I asked.

Makai took a deep breath. “We were planning on raiding the coastal home of a wealthy player and stealing all of her items, but it sounds like this is more important. Sure, I’ll be happy to take Clayton and his men to the island.”

“How long will it take?” asked Clayton impatiently.

“Probably twenty-four hours, maybe less with a favorable wind. We can leave right away if you’d like. We should arrive by early tomorrow afternoon.”

“Very good,” said Clayton. “Let’s go.”

Makai turned and waved at a couple of strays leaning against a building. They nodded and approached. “Show Clayton and his men to the ship. Stow their cargo somewhere safe.”

The strays nodded. One of them said, “Follow me.” Clayton raised an eyebrow, but said nothing else. He and his employees followed.

“Wait for me above decks. I’ll be there shortly,” said Makai. Clayton nodded his head. After they were gone, Makai looked at Emma and me. “You coming with us?”

I shook my head. “We have some other business to attend to. Something we hope might help in the fight against Ciaran.”

“Good. After what he and his minion did on my ship a few days ago, I want him dead too.”

At that moment a female player walked up to us. She held a netherite sword loosely in her right hand. “Makai, we’re ready to set sail.”

He nodded. “Jimmy, Emma, this is my new first mate, PlutoGaming. You can call her Pluto.”
